Chinese Medicine for Fertility

We offer acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for natural conception, IVF support, unexplained infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, recurrent miscarriage, and male factor fertility.

Treatment works with your cycle, not around it. The approach combines acupuncture, herbal medicine, and pattern diagnosis to support both partners across a three-month preparation window.

Where You Are in the Journey

Treatment is matched to your situation, whether you are just starting out or mid-cycle with your IVF clinic.

Just Starting

Trying to conceive naturally. Acupuncture and herbs to regulate the cycle, support ovulation, and reduce the factors that interfere, including stress, sleep, and digestion.

Six Months In

Still trying. Pattern diagnosis to identify what might be in the way. Both partners welcome. Herbs and acupuncture alongside anything your GP has already recommended.

IVF or IUI

Acupuncture timed around the key phases of your protocol. Pre-stimulation, retrieval, transfer, and luteal phase support. Coordinated with your specialist, not against it.

After a Loss

The body and nervous system need time after a miscarriage. Treatment supports recovery, helps re-establish the cycle, and prepares the ground for trying again.

What We Treat

We treat the full range of fertility conditions with acupuncture and Chinese herbs tailored to the root pattern, not just the diagnosis.

Unexplained Infertility

Normal results on paper but still not conceiving. Chinese medicine does not need a biomedical diagnosis. Tongue, pulse, and cycle history give enough to work with.

PCOS

Ovulation support, cycle regulation, and reducing the metabolic picture that often accompanies PCOS. Acupuncture and herbs together.

Endometriosis

Pain management and cycle quality for women with endo. Treatment does not cure it, but it can make the environment more favourable and the symptoms more manageable.

Low AMH / Poor Ovarian Response

AMH is a marker, not a final answer. We support egg quality and uterine environment, which AMH does not measure.

Recurrent Miscarriage

Three or more losses requires a different treatment approach. We focus on constitution, immune picture, and luteal phase support.

Male Factor

Sperm quality, motility, and morphology are responsive to acupuncture and herbs. Three months of treatment. Both partners.

IVF Support

Pre-stimulation prep, retrieval recovery, and transfer support. Timed to your protocol. Can be a standalone course or ongoing.

Luteal Phase Issues

Short luteal phase, low progesterone presentation, spotting before your period. A common pattern in Chinese medicine with targeted treatment.

Post-Pill

Cycle has not returned properly after stopping the pill. We help restore ovulation and return to a fertile baseline.

Cycle Irregularities

Irregular, absent, or very long cycles. We treat the underlying pattern, not just the symptom.

Why Three Months?

Most people don’t realise how far back the process starts.

90 days for eggs

A primordial follicle takes around 90 days to reach ovulation. Your egg quality today is based on your health months ago.

74 days for sperm

Sperm take about 74 days from production to ejaculation. Sperm health today came from your health months ago.

More lead time is better

We start where you are. But if you have three months of acupuncture and herbs it gives the body a full cycle to respond.

If You're Doing IVF

Acupuncture during an IVF cycle is not about replacing the protocol. It is about supporting the body through it.

The phases that tend to benefit most are the week before stimulation starts, the days around retrieval, and the 48 hours around transfer. Luteal phase support can continue from transfer through the two-week wait.

If you are mid-protocol when you come to us, that is fine. We meet you where you are in the cycle and work with what is already happening.

If you have your protocol details, bring them to the first appointment.

Both Partners Matter

Sperm quality is responsible for a significant share of fertility challenges, and it is often undertreated. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can support sperm count, motility, and morphology across a 74-day maturation window.

We see both partners, separately or together. Some couples come in as a pair from the start. Others start with one partner and add the other later. Either works.

There is no pressure to involve both. But when both partners are in treatment, the overall picture tends to improve.

Common Questions

How long before I see results?

For natural conception support, the standard recommendation is a full three-month course before assessing progress. This covers a complete cycle of follicle development. Some patients notice cycle changes within four to six weeks. Chronic or complex presentations take longer.

Does my partner need to come?

No, but it can help. Male factor contributes to a significant proportion of fertility challenges, and sperm quality responds well to acupuncture and herbal medicine. If your partner is open to it, a joint consult is a useful starting point.

Can acupuncture help if my test results are normal?

Yes. Unexplained infertility is one of the more common presentations in Chinese medicine practice. A normal AMH, normal sperm analysis, and a clear HSG do not mean there is nothing to treat. Tongue, pulse, cycle history, and constitutional picture give a different lens.

I am already mid-IVF cycle. Is it too late to start?

No. Starting treatment at any point in the process is useful. Full preconception preparation is ideal, but if you are already mid-cycle or mid-protocol, we work with where you are.

What is the difference between acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for fertility?

Acupuncture works on circulation, nervous system regulation, and cycle support. Herbs work more directly on hormonal and constitutional patterns and are active between sessions. Most fertility presentations benefit from both. If you prefer not to take herbs, acupuncture alone is still worth doing.
