Chinese Medicine for Women's Health
We offer women’s health acupuncture for fertility, hormonal imbalances, painful periods, PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, perimenopause, menopause, and whole-body wellbeing.
The approach combines acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and classical pattern diagnosis to support women from adolescence through menopause, and every stage in between.

Supporting You Through Every Life Stage
Chinese medicine has been mapping these transitions for two thousand years, and treatment is matched to the phase you’re in.

Adolescence
First periods, acne, mood swings, study stress. Gentle acupuncture and herbs help young women settle into a regular cycle and a body they can trust.
Reproductive Years
Painful periods, PMS, irregular cycles, hormonal acne, fatigue, low libido. The reproductive decades are where small imbalances become daily wear, and treatment focuses on regulating the cycle.
Preparing for Pregnancy
Three months of preconception support gives eggs and sperm a full cycle to mature in a better terrain. Acupuncture, herbs, and cycle tracking, for one partner or both.
Pregnancy
Drug-free support for morning sickness, fatigue, back pain, breech presentation, and prebirth preparation from week 36. Pregnancy-safe acupuncture, trimester by trimester.
Postpartum
The fourth trimester sets the next decade of your health. Treatment supports recovery, milk supply, sleep, mood, and the return of a healthy cycle.
Perimenopause and Menopause
Hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, brain fog, mood swings, weight shifts. Chinese medicine has gentle, time-tested options for the transition, with or without HRT.
What We Treat
We treat the full range of women’s health conditions with acupuncture and Chinese herbs tailored to the root cause, not just the symptom.
Cycle Support
You shouldn't have to guess what's happening in your body. We map your cycle and use it as the foundation for diagnosis.
Endometriosis
Pain every month that no one has properly explained. We focus on reducing it and improving the cycle with acupuncture and herbs.
Pregnancy
Morning sickness, fatigue, pelvic pain, breech position. Drug-free support with pregnancy-safe acupuncture, trimester by trimester.
Painful Periods
Period pain isn't something you just live with. We find the root, usually stress, digestion, or circulation, and treat that.
Post-Pill Support
Cycle hasn't come back properly after stopping the pill. We help restore it and get the body back to a fertile baseline.
Prebirth Preparation
From week 36, specific acupuncture points to prepare the cervix and uterus for labour. Research-backed, done weekly.
Irregular Cycles and PMS
Unpredictable cycles, mood shifts, tenderness before your period. Usually a stress and digestion picture we can work with.
Fertility
Trying to conceive and want to give it the best chance. Acupuncture, herbs, and a 90-day preparation window for both partners.
Miscarriage Recovery
After a loss, the body and nervous system need time to recover. We support that process and prepare you for trying again.
PCOS
A PCOS diagnosis isn't a dead end. Acupuncture, herbs, and dietary work can get ovulation back on track.
IVF Support
Pre-stimulation prep, pre-transfer support, luteal phase care. Coordinated with your IVF clinic, not against it.
Menopause
Hot flashes, night sweats, sleep, mood, libido. Chinese medicine has been treating menopause longer than HRT has existed.

What a Treatment Looks Like
Your first appointment runs around 75 minutes. A lot of that time is talking. Cycle history, sleep, digestion, stress, previous treatments, what has and hasn’t worked. Ear, tongue and pulse give additional diagnostic information that the history alone doesn’t reveal.
Treatment is usually acupuncture, sometimes with moxa, and often with a herbal formula to take home. The formula changes as your pattern shifts.
Most patients do weekly appointments for the first 8 to 12 weeks. Then, as the cycle stabilises, spacing out to fortnightly and then monthly.
Most patients notice cycle changes within 2 to 3 cycles. Some notice it sooner. It depends on how long the pattern has been present.
Common Questions
Is acupuncture safe during my period or pregnancy?
Yes to both. Acupuncture during your period is fine and often more effective for certain presentations like period pain. During pregnancy, treatment is safe when performed by an AHPRA-registered practitioner who knows the contraindicated points and phase-specific protocols. There are specific points to avoid, particularly in the first trimester, and a trained practitioner knows to avoid them. If you are pregnant, mention it at booking so the intake can be adjusted accordingly.
How many sessions before I see a difference?
Most patients notice something within 2 to 3 cycles for menstrual and hormonal conditions. That is roughly 6 to 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel a shift within 2 or 3 appointments. For fertility, the standard recommendation is a full 3-month course before assessing progress, as this covers a complete cycle of follicle development. Chronic or long-standing conditions take longer than recent-onset ones. Eric gives a realistic picture at the first consultation.
Do you use Chinese herbs alongside acupuncture?
Often, yes. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulas work well together, and for many women’s health presentations the herbs do the heavy lifting between appointments. Formulas are tailored to your pattern, constitution, and cycle phase. They are not off-the-shelf supplements. Granule formulas are standard at this clinic: you mix them with hot water at home. Most patients adjust to the taste within the first week or two.
Can Chinese medicine help if my test results are normal but I still feel off?
Yes, and this is one of the most common presentations in Chinese medicine practice. Many women have a clear sense that something in their cycle or hormonal system is not right, but blood tests and ultrasounds come back normal. Chinese medicine does not require a biomedical diagnosis to treat. Tongue, pulse, cycle history, and symptom patterns give enough information to identify and address what is happening.
How do I book and where are you located?
Kentro Health is at 18 Cherry St, Ballina NSW 2478. We see patients from Ballina, Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Bangalow, and across the Northern Rivers region. You can book online via the bookings page or call 0411 864 736. If you have questions before booking, the contact page is the easiest way to reach us.
Do you work with women going through IVF?
Yes. IVF acupuncture is a specific area of practice. Treatment timing is coordinated with the IVF protocol, particularly in the follicular phase, around egg retrieval, and around embryo transfer. A number of IVF clinics now recommend acupuncture as part of a support protocol. Eric is experienced in working alongside fertility specialists. If you are starting or mid-way through an IVF cycle, bring your protocol details to the first appointment.
